I miss the Globe. Now that I live so close to it, and I periodically drive by it, I am constantly reminded about how awesome it was.

I drive by the Atrium sometimes too and have the same feeling. Although not everyone liked the Atrium, it was probably one of my favorite venues.

I almost got married at The Church back in 2006, its called "The Hall" now. It was so strange walking around in there now that they have put roses wallpaper up in the main area. I decided that nostalgia wasn't worth rose printed wallpaper on my wedding day. However, I did really enjoy the look on the owner's face when I began to ask what had happened to all the parts of the building that I used to frequent, she seemed puzzled about how I could know the layout of the place. They walled off most of the staircase and the basement is all storage now. They don't know what they are missing.

The Globe reigned supreme... I agree.

Go to the church and tell them that you are getting married and want a tour of the place... It will probably give you the feeling that your grandmother took over your party place.

alas i missed out on these venues. at the time u were all having a smashing time i was going to high school everyday and dancing 4-7 days a week. i never had time for parteh. i just wish they would have one party at the globe so i can know what everyone is talking about. then maybe everyone would agree that i have been to a "real rave" lol.

I would agree, except they turned the place into "Club Esso" and I just don't think that it would be the same... I'm pretty sure they don't let a chain of ravers walk through the back door to party outside at the chain link fence on concrete anymore...

I've been absent from raves a loooong time. I moved off to Missouri for college, graduated, came back and simply assumed that its all different. I wish it were old school again if even for a night- that way my husband wouldn't think I was nuts for referring to people by their "party name" while not knowing their real one, he could actually SEE why big pants were an appropriate lifestyle, and why the hell I sentimentally held onto all those plastic beaded bracelets and chewed up pacifiers... I don't think even by looking at pictures he can get the REAL picture of what it was like way back when.

no cause i have been to a good many parties/"rave"s all different types and sizes. legal and illegal. dramin tells me that its still not the same. BUT its still fun. your husband might still understand. Bring him to the 4th of July party. Hybrid & Concord Dawn and a handfull of other headliners including the MOD on here corey von waters. it's supposed to be a huge huge huge party.

Its less about the venue and more about the memories I think. The amount of parties experienced there, the close contact with the members of plurplanet, it just WAS the place to be. Was it the most amazing? No. Was it the largest? No. Did the best headliners play there? not usually....
BUT, it was an icon for the rave scene in Atlanta.

Well actually, I know a lot of the poeple on here and have for years... No, many of them got their start before the Globe was a twinkle in Paul's eye. Like I said it was a pretty cool venue at times, but to build it up as the end all be all of ravedom in Atlanta is just plain silly..

You have to notice that I dont talk shit to everyone, just freakin' retards. I was at the globe. A LOT. Youd have to be high on pcp to think that the globe was the best venue Atlanta ever had. Yeah I had quite a few good times there, but the place was a dump. Hell even during its hayday, it was still only the place that everybody went when there was nothing better going on. The business end of your crack pipe would have to be hot to the touch to be nostalgic for those long wierd nights sitting on the concrete surrounded by raging meth addicts.

I aim to please....

Here is the thing about me showing up at a party at the Masq. or really anywhere....
Its uncharted territory for me now! I have not been to a party in nearly 8 years. I got my ass shipped off to Missouri for college, I kept the pictures, loved the memories, but lost touch with all that was my life in Atlanta prior to college.
Its kind of frightening to me to jump back in KNOWING that its not at all what I remember.
Perhaps I have the wrong idea, but haven't sneakers been replaced by stilettos and E replaced with hypnotiq and UFOs replaced with miniskirts?
Didn't raves die when meth became the primary tool of dancing motivation?

once again, i don't give a shit. it's a little assumptuous to think u can know somebody well enough to think they are a retard through a website.

if u payed attention u would know i never even went to the globe.. i'm only 21. i can say that the best venue i have probably seen so far was Eleven50 (at the time, i don't know what it's called now). Ferry Corsten was there that night and it was so packed that we could barely get to the dance floor. The ceilings were so high that place was huge.

Actually, it was Purple UFOs, Glitter and ribbons in my hair, farie wings and a power puff girls backpack.

I don't think I could possibly bring myself to actually WEAR that stuff out anymore. There was a point in time where I didn't care what the people at Waffle House thought about my outfit as I sucked my vanilla sprite, cracked out at 8 AM.... BUT, now I might.

Psshhh... that's pretty much how I dress. I highly recommend it! People think that just because UFO's went out of style with the turn of the millennium it's not fun to wear them anymore. Pop culture silliness! There's no reason you need to be a mindless sheep and only play with glow sticks during the acceptable music genre set because the general consensus is that you should have a beer bottle in your hand and do the back pack dance instead.

Is the point of going out and having a good time to try and fit in with everyone else? I thought it was to get out and get crazy to fun music. I've been to a fair number of parties in the past several years dressing in everything from UFO's and fairy wings, to short skirts, to kickboxing trunks and I've never had anyone be anything but friendly when I go out. I party with the junglists, the psytrancers, the stereotypical "ravers" and happy hardcore loving candy kids and we all have a grand old time and the vibe has always been a good one.

As long as people are still going out and having fun and keeping that positive energy going the "scene" doesn't die.

Okay, I agree to some extent, but remember that for a long time EVERYONE wore UFO's and all that biz (myself included) at which point we were essentially behaving as sheep. It was like the rave uniform which in hindsight was very counter-productive to being an individual lol.

People can wear whatever they care to. All I'm saying is that there's ahrdly anything fresh or original about wearing a uniform.

Haha, last weekend I went out to a psytrance party at a friends place and left around 10am. We decided to grab breakfast at Old Hickory House and I felt like total scum walking in there looking all disheveled and dirty from doing some outdoor partying all night with all the nice families eating lunch with their children after church. Mostly that was just a matter of me being filthy and feeling like a dirty meth whore. I get a lot of compliments on my raver outfits from old ladies when I'm out and about. Apparently UFO's must be cool again since last time me and my girlfriend went out to the mall of Georgia, girls kept asking where we got our awesome pants.

Who says wearing UFO's is fresh and original? Your only being a sheep if you're doing something simply because you think it's what's acceptable for whatever "scene" your venturing into. Just don't be afraid to wear UFO's because people are going to think your stuck in the 90's if you just plain like wearing UFO's because they're fun to dance in (man are they ever!) or think they look cool or whatever.

If I go to a party where other people are wearing the same thing as me, I don't take that as a mark against my individuality, I just do what I do and let my individuality show by just letting loose and getting my groove on. I'll be the one chick at the party wearing a mini skirt and doing some pop'n lock :)
