It's just hard to get pacific salmon that doesn't taste rather, um, unfresh, to say that it takes too long to get here and tastes really fishy...

well thats probably because theres a island of garbage the size of texas floating in the pacific island. Atlantic salmon is pretty tasty tho ;) its one of the main ingredients in my world famous Salmon Pasta.

Atlantic salmon is just bland. Heaven forbid fish taste like, oh I don't know, FISH?! If it's really not fresh, you need to find a better source. Whole Foods only carries previously frozen wild/Pacific salmon, so it's hasn't gone bad by the time we get it. I've also had fresh salmon shipped here straight from Seattle, and it was just as tasty as when we had it up there.

I'm not saying that fish shouldn't taste like fish, but it shouldn't smell like rotten fish. I am spoiled by the ocean, so I can really taste the difference. I love fresh fish, but if I can smell it a mile away...well let's just say my big brother taught me not to eat anything that smells like that...

I've never had any wild salmon that smells bad. Like I said, you need to find a better source.

Even when it's in season (which is right now for sockeye, actually), most of what you'll find will be previously frozen. It doesn't make sense to leave much fresh wild salmon in the case. People here are too set in their ways and only buy Atlantic salmon, so the good stuff could sit there for days.

That's what the summer plans are. Now that I know where to find it... I am a total foodie really. I've learned the secret to cooking is fresh ingredients. You can't beat a fresh piece of fish...
