actually it's phase cancellation. if you take an instrumental of the track in question and invert the left and right channels and apply them to the song you're gonna be left with the vocals. same technique applies when using an accapella on a tune to make an instrumental.

hahaha you didn't at all bro! :)

i actually couldn't remember what it was called, for a second i thought it was 'reverse chorusing'.... then did the google search & saw them mentioning phasing.

also i read about if you could split the signal into 3 channels left and right being the music and the center being the vox then you could isolate them that way but idk how to do that one. and there's a vst vocal isolator plug out there but i'm not sure how good it is. you also could try filtering out the lows in the track using a highpass or bandpass filter but you'd be left with the instrument leads and melodies plus it would sound kind of thin. it might work for what you're trying to do here.

that'll happen it was close to a year before i finally got a track even close to finished. lurk the grid on DOA, and www.dnbwiki.com , and www.computermusic.co.uk has good tutorials. also the forums on kvr could help too. it'll take a while before you make a BANGER but it's worth it.

learning the program is 2/3 of producing imo.

you don't need a midi controller either, although it can be really useful... it's not needed. i have one & haven't even had it hooked up for 9 months now.

hmm good info.

yeah im just trying to learn the program, learn what it can do, how to do it and all that jazz. reason was pretty straight forward. it seems ableton is a little....well a lot different.

FL is alot more intuitative and forgiving for n00bs. i highly recommend it. drag sample to step sequencer, click buttons and go. also if you wanna slice n dice loops it has a native beatslicer. AND it's VST compatible.

Ableton has built in tutorials, give em a go and it helps to ease into its working process....plus they are pretty fun too.
