Please read this and don't be too critical about it. And please let me know what you think.

Veterans

Did they really die in vain?
So many good lives lost
While people live a life of freedom
Without a clue of the massive cost
Blood and tears are paid by us
The patriots of our time
Lives are lost so quickly
On the battle lines
We sacrifice without thanks
From those of whom we serve
We die alone on the front lines
In way No human deserves
We go away to far-off lands
And fight with every ounce
We travel through cities and towns
Whose names we can’t pronounce
“Support Our Troop” is a popular slogan
But do know what we’ve seen
When you see the colors half-mast
Do you really know what it means?
We are the soldiers past and present
With pride we fight for your rights
We do it all without any hesitation
Without regard for our own life
So the next time you see a veteran
Please take them to the side
Give them a hug and thank them
For the service they did provide

William R. Johnson

no the problem is in the fact that the only options are either love or hate.. and it wasn't written by you, so people can't give you any sort of constructive criticism whether they did or did not like it. and if it is going to hurt everytime someone says they hate something you cherish... don't post it here.

I wrote every word of that poem. I lived through that poem. I could care less who likes it but if you don't like it please tell me why. Shit, personally I love every word of it. I feel that veterans are overlooked in today's world. We did what other wouldn't or couldn't do. We put our lives on hold to protect the freedoms that all Americans enjoy. So if you are going to criticize my poetry......give me feedback and tell me what I could change or phrase better. Oh and just for the record I am Spc. William R. Johnson U.S. Army
