carvings engraved on a tree,
from all its passing bye's
the memory's that were made
and its pain to bare

from dusk till dawn
it waits
for its passing bye's
he holds their memory's
the markings of love

with time
his branches, pointed down
wilted, bent over like the farmers back
who tends to his land
and who is broken from the years
appears content and grounded
in his field

i run my fingers over its markings
and i wonder, should i scar him to
its already been done... before
whats one more scar

and then, with that thought
i thought, but why
why scar him to
if my markings are his pain to bare
why not spare him while others hadn't
so, i sat
i sat with him
in the breeze, watching his branches sway
being grounded with him
experiencing his view
