I loved ruck marches. I would always get 3 day weekends for coming in 1st. :D Ran most of the way.

tip place the handle of your m16 in your L-belt and just let the belt hold your weapon and rest your arms on the m16. Then take your mind to another place for 3+ hours. Makes a huge difference.

One thing I found when I raced in the deep Summer months was I actually suffered more when I drank a lot of water before hand. I don't know if it's because your blood gets a little diluted, or if your electrolytes get flushed out faster, but what I made a point to do, instead, was to make sure to hydrate the day before, and then only as much as necessary the day of.

For eating, you'll want starchy light food just before you run, nothing too heavy because digestion requires blood and water. I actually would skip lunch before races.

lol believe it or not we are a BSB troop. basic support batallion. i guess cav units have to march a lot? i dont know. but its going to fucking kill me. it took us like 11 hours for the 25 miler and it was HOT out...the 50 miler is going to be in AUGUST.....its going to take us like fucking 5 days, but this IS the army...so we will do it in 2 probably and have 95% fall out....WTF

ya the nave is a 1st choice. Only reason Id chose army again is i don't want to go to basic and lose my rank. But I have been out for a long time there's probably no avoiding it. But then again being a doc for marines would be an honor.

the nave medic program is better then the armys. But I hate boats. and 6 month rotation on ships hot bunking (when your working someone is sleeping in your bed and visa verse) is not my idea of a fun time.
