I don't know. I had never seen it before until 2 days ago. My friend Nate was watching it and I heard it and asked what he was watching and he started playing it for me :)

thanx Isis, actually, in my line of work- inside sales for a top-ten electrical supply corporation (after being an Electrician for over a decade), this is really big unfortunate news. because it is a congressional mandate, above and beyond the NEC, which is determined by local jurisdiction having authority, there are no "grandfather clauses"- you will have them or else. on a personal level, i do not like paying $10 for a light bulb, especially a fluorescent. their CRI, color rendering index is always never the best, and the 60hz flickr goes against something deep inside me- or maybe it's just my eyes. lol, of all the things that plague us, it is just wonderful that congress has the time to decide for us which light-bulb is the only one we can use . . .

yeah I hate flourescent lights, that humming sound and flicker gives me headaches and sometimes makes me angry :domokun:

the not so funny thing is when I saw that video, earlier in that day one of those bulbs had broken in my apartment...so now i'm like great, the cat and I are going to die from Mercury poisoning :twitch::runaway:

They save you a LOT of money on your electricity bill..

oh ya... DONT DROP THEM. problem solved. i can count on 1 hand the amount of light bulbs I have broke in my entire life. But then again you drink mercury every day in your public drinking water.

Ah, good point. Mercury is fun to apply a charge to, then allow it to drip across a non conductive surface :)
