Hard, funky, house. If you like house then you should buy his newest cd. It was mixed live in San Fran and is one of his best cds. He is also my all time favorite DJ. Definitely check him out.

Hell yeah! It was Dan and Jim Hopkins, better known as the Electroliners. Loose Caboose is one of the all time best selling singles. Damn good track.

This show was incredible.

I'll get the bad out of the way first:
This club was filled with fashion victims. It was like being in fucking Buckhead. Sure, there are often cool people in any social group, but you can picture what it's like - the crowd had that greasy, sleazy Buckhead feel. My girlfriend generally likes to make friends at events, but instead got fed a bunch of cheesy lines.

On with the good:
DJ Dan has reignited my appreciation for House music.
Wow - what a show.
He kept the crowd going all night - I'm sore as hell now. We were able to sift out the people there to have fun as opposed to scamming, and had a blast. He gave off a definite vibe of friendliness and being down to earth (as opposed to some big names), and kept playing when the club staff were coming up to the booth all but threatening him to quit.
The only song I recognized was "La la Land" by Green Velvet, but it was a great set overall.

His second opener was DJ Jelo from Toronto, Ca and he kicked much arse as well. His closing piece meshed the Bill Hicks "GO BACK TO SLEEP AMERICA" speech with a song that kept repeating "we want your soul" (not Aphex Twin). Great stuff.

So yeah - damn.
And thanks to the folks who encouraged me to go.

If any of you were lucky enough to hear a complete breaks set by Dan then I bow to you. He produced a few breaks but never played alot of breaks when he played out. He started out playing hard techno and then moved into what he liked to call "funk fusion". A blend of prog house, acid house, breaks, some hip-hop instrumentals, and electro. But like I said. If anyone has a complete set of him playing breaks then I would love to get my hands on it.

Also, be on the look out for Dans re-mix of the Transformers theme song. Hehehe. Damn good stuff!!
