was browsing yahoo, clicking on links, and eventually got to a page (http://masada2000.org/islam.html) about "evils" of islam.. and found this video (http://212.150.177.135/islam/impalement.asf).. do not watch it if you have a low tolerance for human suffering.. can't believe such things still take place!

As much as I am a fan for using Wrongville for being completely obnoxious, there are still some things that I feel are to be respected for the most part. I doubt any of you would be saying "that was awesome" if it were a person being beat to deat by a police offer - you'd be shouting "pig" like you do in Say Anything when one pulls you over and gives you a ticket.
The fact that events like this take place is disturbing. Although a double edged sword (some could say our complacent punishment laws aren't stringent enough to curb wrong-doing) there is no way I could see possible that any living being could look at that video and really think it was awesome or cool.
Although it is in no human beings right to die a humane death, at this day and age, what is wrong with our governments trying to do so? Is it the sadistic nature of man, the lizzard brain so imbeded within us that this is what we naturally do to entil and enforce our own personal power? Is there no escape from this behavior?
Man has such potential for such amazing things. And yet, this is what we resort to on a repeated basis.
Kind of makes me not want to be human; and reinforces the idea that we are nothing more than a virus plaguing this world.

Just thought i'd make people read that twice. i agree with you completely. There is so much of that going on outside of our "perfect little world" that we don't know about. And we get to see bits and pieces like that over the internet. No one has a right to do that to anyone. And the worst part about it is that that man probably smiled the wrong way at someone or disagreed with the smallest thing.
There's nothing i can really do about it except feel disgust and sorrow. It's people like that who make me want to do things like that to the people who do those things...like that. ANd that's not good. That's why i try to keep myself blind to things like this. 'Cos all i can really ever do is watch, and feel. And i hate those feelings.

I want to address the blatant untruths presented on a daily basis by the media, and perpetrated by hateful, unknowlegable people. How many trust one side of the story. The truth is not in what you frequently here on the news. There no longer is a separation in the media. Look at Mr. Murdock from Australia. I'd like to address this statement because it sounds as if you switched sides. First you addressed the depravity of man and the one sided presentation of situations by the media.
Then you speak of an isolated incident and (the media? or America? or whom are you referring to?) being ethnocentric.
If you are addressing our Media and stating that they are one-sided. Yes, they are. They are a Democratic vessle these days. And I agree, the truth is not what you frequently hear on the news. The news portrays a country that is and was prefectly fine the way it was and is resentful for America's interferrence. I'm not sure that's the way it is; although I would imagine that not everyone is happy that we have played a part in the "liberation of Iraq."
If you are insinuating that this video is an isolated incident, I would encourage you to read more first hand testimonials scattered about regarding life under the Hussein Regime. I would encourage you to research the many years plight of women's rights organizations to assist and free the women of Afghanistan. I would encourage you, to open your mind - and not take ANY of the accounts as face value, but to take ALL of the accounts as an entity and gather your own opionion far from all left and right winged accounts.
If this was not your inention, that I'm not quite what your statement was intending to say.

Let me clarify: The painting a group of people as one color may not be correct. There are two very distinct groups of Muslims. Take the Shiite Muslims; The women inherit the same as the men, are intitled to the same education, can own and operate business as the men, and enjoy the same freedoms we do here in this country. On the other hand we have the Sunni Muslims; from whence the sociopathic taliban had come from. These groups of people, unlike there counterparts are the extremist, the ones who perpetrate such deplorable acts, in the name of morality. I in no way have questioned the need for war, as it should be apparent to the most casual fan of history. My intention here was to shed light on an oftmisconceived group of people. The media we agree to not give us fact, but their own ideopolitical spin, often does not differentiate here amongst these people. This disinformation allows the brooding of ethnocentricism.

not to get off the topic that's at hand right now, but I wouldn't really say that Atheists despise anything religion oriented. it's more or less that they don't believe in anything. of course, I can't speak for all Atheists or anything, but it's just what i've learned over the past several years.

I've seen some pretty sick videos about such things before. It's sad how their own people get treated. That's why I was and am totally for the war. I hate to think how those people suffer. It's definitely, as you say, very disturbing.
