So this guy and I have been friends for a hell of a long time. Every now and then we get into some drama but we always work things out. Yet, I always feel a little bit of tension there between us. Basically, this guy calls me up last night and is like "ive got a question for you dude...its pretty serious". Im like, oh god...what happened now...He says,"Well, me and Abby...

(((NOTE: you see Abby was this chick i was with for a long time. She was my frist girlfriend.first this, first that...you get the idea.)))

...have been hanging out a lot lately. And I was wondering what you thought about her being my girlfriend"

HOLD UP!!! WAIT A SECOND!!! He didnt just say what I think he did, did he?! Well you fucking moron. Do you really think that would be something i would be happy with?...I know you dont think that it could possibly be a good move to make, especially with the drama going on in our friendship already. But hey man, its your call. You always seem to make these stupid decisions. I almost think you're pushing me away on purpose. I think Im just blinded to it because im trying too hard to see the good in you. Im always looking past your faults. You gotta admit it man, Ive been more loyal to you than anybody else around you. Anyways, if you ever grow a pair of balls, why dont you talk to me face to face about this shit, not over the phone when Im so far away. If you were a real friend, you would take that into consideration. But I dont think you are. And its taken 6 years to see that. Damn , you suck.

At least he asked. I have dated many of my friends ex's. It is common courtesy to ask if it is alright to date your friends ex. Most of the time a friend actually does not have a problem with it. If you are not ok with it then tell him politely that you are not cool with it. If you get mad at him and be an ass about it then he will say fuck what you care and date her anyway. Have you ever though about her. Maybe she will be happy with him. Quit being a selfish prick.

I totally agree. At least he was a friend to you and asked you first before dating her. If things didn't work out between the two of you why is it fair to stop his and her happiness? If you were a real friend then you would want them to be happy. It may take you a while and you may not be able to hang out with them for a bit, but why ruin their happiness?

Yeah I am actually in this situation now albiet not the exact same situation. I am dating my best friend's ex. I guess the difference here is that you said this girl (Abby) was your first girlfriend, ect. So obviously she is still important to you whereas in my situation the relationship, while serious, was not to that level. The situation was and still is difficult but I made sure to talk with him (in person) many times to make sure I knew how he felt about it and didn't do anything until he said it was cool.

I don't know your particular situation or your friend but I would have to agree at least in part with lilcupcakesjo when she asks about her happiness. I don't understand how you can consider someone your friend and then say that they are not good enough for someone else you care about. Also she is capable of making her own decsions so in a way I think you should leave it up to them: to do anything else would in a way be selfish. Although if you really still care about this girl and maybe you think there is a chance that you will get back together then I see your point. However, if you two are not going to get back together then why keep them apart? Maybe they would be happy together.

Again I don't know either of these people and maybe this dude is an ass and would not be good for her. But if he is really your friend then I think you should give him a chance.

You are right, maybe I was being a little selfish. I wrote this right after hearing. She and I wont ever get back together, and we dont really ever talk anymore. I guess its just that I think that my friend should have a little more respect for me. And more importantly, he R E A L L Y is no good for this girl. I guess Im concerned and a little weirded out by the fact that he is going to be hooking up with my first girl. You know?

If feels like Chances and second and third and fourth chances are all I give when it comes to him.

The two of them just arent a good combo. She will just break his heart...and he'll just get her into all sorts of bad things. Maybe I should just have faith in him though. Nah...never has helped before.
